With nearly 35 years’ motorhome manufacturing experience designing and building motorhomes in the UK, Auto-Trail is proud of its rich British heritage and its reputation for craftsmanship and design innovation.
THE CHALLENGE
Having seen the potential risk of low stock from their current supplier, Auto-Trail made a strategic decision to design a new light moulding which could be used in conjunction with their current light fittings.
They asked us to produce an injection-moulded tool with the requirement to run parts for a new rear light surround.
THE SOLUTION
The design had two parts, which coupled together to form an extremely tight fit, meaning they could be secured together without the need for fixings, fastenings or bonding agents. There was also a further option to have the exterior part chrome-plated as an option for different vehicle ranges.
THE IMPACT
Within 2 weeks of being briefed, we had quoted, designed and manufactured the parts, along with deciding on materials offering different colour options.
By week 3 we had supplied parts to be used for manufacture, providing a metallic silver with a red surround and the option for chrome plating. Between weeks 4 and 5 we’d supplied hundreds of chrome-plated and metallic silver light surrounds.
Our customer was so impressed that they took the decision to use these on additional ranges and the new ranges for the season.
